Chapter Champions
Marcelle English is the November 2026 Chapter Champion

Our November Chapter Champion is Marcelle English. English has spent nearly three decades telling stories that move people: from Olympic newsrooms and morning radio to sports agencies and county government. She works where strategy, storytelling, and digital media meet. Her expertise includes integrated communications, brand development, social media strategy, media relations, crisis communication, and destination marketing.
As division manager for digital communications at Fulton County Government, Marcelle leads the digital strategy for one of Georgia’s largest counties, reaching more than 1.3 million residents and county employees. She oversees the county’s website, social media channels, email newsletters, technology communications initiatives and internal platforms, while also leading a team of three. She advises county departments on public information and content people want to engage with in real time.
She found her voice early. As a student at Benjamin E. Banneker High School, English wrote for VOX ATL, Atlanta’s first teen-run newspaper. That work led to the 1996 Summer Olympic News Bureau in Atlanta, where she produced more than 20 youth-focused features for outlets including CNN, USA Today, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, among others.
She then moved into broadcast. An internship at WVEE (V-103), Atlanta’s leading urban radio station, became a role as assistant morning show producer for The Frank Ski Morning Show. Over four years there, she learned to build content on tight daily deadlines for one of the city’s largest audiences.
In 2005, English founded Origins Public Relations, a sports marketing and PR firm. Origins managed media relations, personal branding, and community engagement for NFL players, and partnered with a minority-owned NASCAR team to expand diversity in motorsports. In 2009, she and along with actress and friend, Angela Davis co-founded Jersey Girl Sports, one of the first multimedia brands for female sports fans. It combined news, original video, and an online community years before social-first sports media went mainstream. In 2016, she relaunched her agency as Branding House Public Relations, helping brands across industries grow their reach and reputation.
Mentorship and service run through it all. English currently serves on the board of VOX ATL, the organization where her career began, and has served on the boards of Girls on the Run Metro Atlanta and Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta. The Atlanta Business Chronicle named English one of its 40 Under 40 in 2013.
Marcelle holds a master of science in communication from Purdue University, a bachelor’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University, and several graduate certificates. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia’s Certified Public Manager® program and is a doctoral candidate in strategic communication at Regent University, where her studies include crisis communication and digital communications.
